RETO-AP facilitated a peace and reconciliation meeting led by the County Commissioner, bringing together the security teams from Marsabit and Laisamis, peace committees, local leaders, and the wider community.

The main agenda of the meeting was to pursue and facilitate the recovery and return of livestock stolen from the Loglogo area. Participants emphasised that the return of all missing animals is a critical step towards rebuilding trust, restoring relationships, and achieving lasting peace between the affected communities.

The County Commissioner committed to working closely with the security agencies and local peace structures to ensure that the stolen livestock are traced and returned to their rightful owners. He also challenged members of the community who may own missing animals to voluntarily return them, emphasising that peace can only be achieved when communities take responsibility and support efforts to recover all stolen livestock.

The meeting provided an important platform for dialogue, accountability, and collective commitment towards resolving the livestock-related conflict. RETO-AP will continue supporting community-led peacebuilding efforts and collaboration with government and security actors to promote peaceful coexistence, reconciliation, and sustainable peace in the affected areas.
